Tested with virtualbox 4.3.6
Succesfully upgrade from windows 8 to windows 8.1 after seeing the message ” sorry, you can’t install the update because it’s not supported by your computer’s CPU. more info ” in windows store

Update KB2976978 does nothing to fix it. Clearly it s cause is not known or do they have no interest in making a functional product?
